Lori Mindnich (Lumby + Areas D & E)

2026 Election Candidate

What measurable outcomes would define success for you after one term?

Having our policies updated to reflect differences between our rural & remote schools and our Urban schools.

What do you see as the top three challenges currently facing the school district?

Equitable funding from the province.

Lack of EA's in every classroom, a Promise from the Province that is still not fulfilled.

Student Mental Health supports.

What are your top priorities for improving student achievement?

Closing the gap for our Indigenous and diverse learners. I would also like to see more consequences for bullying.

What are your priorities for school facilities (e.g., aging infrastructure, overcrowding, environmental upgrades)?

Work with the Province to update all our facilities. If a school has a portable to have those also updated, we have some in our district which were cleaned and reused after finding black mold in them.

How would you like to see climate action prioritized at the governance level so that it guides decisions around infrastructure, operations, and student learning?

We have finally started putting solar panels on 2 of our schools. I would like the Province to prioritise funding for solar upgrades and e buses.

How will you monitor and improve progress toward safe, caring, and inclusive schools?

The Framework for enhanced learning report is a good start. I also like to read the How are we doing reports as I feel if a student does not feel welcome or safe at school, it is hard to learn.

What specific actions would you prioritize to support Indigenous student success and reconciliation?

Our Local Education Agreement is a good start, we also meet board to council to check in with the band on how their members are doing and feeling.

How would you handle controversial issues and/or competing interests?

I like to listen to learn. Maybe it is not a controversial issue, but a misunderstanding. I

How will you engage meaningfully with parents, caregivers, and the broader community?

I am available to contact me by phone and email, as well as in person for anyone who wants to discuss anything.
