Recent Grants

The Community Foundation of the North Okanagan generally provides support to the charitable sector in two ways:

  1. Through our annual Smart & Caring Community Fund Grant Application process
  2. Through our generous donors who have chosen specific charitable causes that are near and dear to their hearts. Donors have the option of starting “Designated Funds” where the income from their endowment fund goes to a specific charity chosen by the donor. “Donor Advised Funds” work similarly, with the donor themselves choosing the charity or charities who will benefit annually.

Most funds disbursed by the Foundation are designated by donors for specific registered charities. However, we are encouraging our donors to consider leaving a portion of their granting ‘undesignated’ to increase the number of applications we can fund through our annual grant application process. An increase in the size of our Smart & Caring Community Fund will allow us to expand our annual granting impact and become more responsive to ever changing community needs.
